John J. Healy was born in queens New York in March 1968. He currently lives in Berkeley, California. He graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1990.

In 1993 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This book is the story of what happened to me after the diagnosis. It is basically a collection of the stories I have told people about the experience.

“Author John Healy Chronicles His Battle with a Brain Tumor in an Upbeat, and Positive Tone to Inspire People Battling Terminal Illnesses

“What I want you to ‘get’ from my little tale here is: a brain tumor diagnosis is not a death sentence. Try to keep a positive attitude. It’s really hard, but so many people just drop dead from an aneurism or a heart attack. You have been given a chance to fight. Lean on your family and friends. Reach out to God. Don’t give up. Fight. Laugh. Joke around. It’s not gonna be easy, but don’t give up.” — An excerpt from Healy’s book, “Tumor Boy.”

“Tumor Boy” is an inspiring retelling of the author’s battle with a brain tumor. Laced with humor and sarcasm, Healy wrote the book not just to educate but to entertain. While he chronicles his experiences and multiple brushes with death, Healy inspires those who are going through what he had overcome to keep a positive outlook. Despite the fact that the book is about people who are fighting a fatal illness, Healy wrote it in a lighthearted style, making it easier to read. Healy is a true inspiration who, although being afflicted with a life-threatening sickness, never stopped living. He continues to conduct his life with the same upbeat attitude and goal-oriented approach that he had when he was younger.

Instead of a lengthy, 500-page book, John Healy offers a succinct yet uplifting story that honors resiliency and the spirit of a survivor.”
