The thrill of a roller coaster ride, the birth of a baby, the gentle nurturing of a doting grandmother–these are some of the experiences that make up this book. All of the facets of life–family, fun, joy, sorrow, truth, and beauty–can be found in these pages. This book embraces human experience, from the freedom and exhilaration of a ride on a motorcycle…
“Face whipped by hair
Blowing wild in the sultry summer wind,
The cyclist races down the road,
Cares left standing, startled, in the dust…”
to the beauty of a young girl collecting shells on the beach at sunset…
“Her eyes mirror the deep blue of the sea
Dark’ning as it drifts out to meet the sky.
Is she a jewel upon the seashore’s breast,
Or does she wear its beauty as her crown?”
or the uncertainty of young love…
“Yes, I know we are young, yet you’re so good and true–
So sweet and so loving, so gentle and who
Could know me and love me the way that you do–
Understand me and need me the way I need you?
How can I love you? The answer I’ve sought,
And the answer’s a question–How can I not?”
There is a poem in this book for every reader–a poem that will touch the heart, evoking the response, “Yes, it’s just like that.”
