I am seventy-eight years old today. At age twenty-three, my hair started to turn silver. I’m originally from Marion, Indiana. A country girl, praise the Lord. We have five children. Three boys and two girls. We now have four grandchildren—two boys and two girls. Love the Lord, he’s my personal savior. After forty years, the East Coast has become my home. While studying as an aspirant minister, I have found out that God’s purpose for my life is to become a teacher of the Gospel. I still work full-time at a classic clothing Corporation. My husband and I will soon be celebrating fifty-two years of marriage. Praise the Lord! We worship at the Morning Star Baptist Church located in Mattapan, Massachusetts. Our Pastor is The John M. Borders III. I am a member of the Praise and Worship Team. I have sung gospel music for the past seventy-two years. I am a Sunday School Teacher for the Primary Class at out church, ages six to eight. We serve a wonderful Savior Jesus Christ. Amen!
Vitiligo is a skin disorder, the stigma that comes with it, the emotions that the individual goes through—because of the acceptance and the rejection from other people, family members, relatives, and strangers. I pray to almighty God, to free me and the millions of people like myself, to be what God has designed us to become. God is our refuge in times of trouble. Like footsteps in the sand, He will carry you every step of the way.
“Norene Willis Shares Her Inspiring Memoir to Encourage People With Vitiligo to See Themselves Through the Eyes of God
In every one hundred people, one person is affected by vitiligo—a skin condition caused by the loss of pigmentation in some parts of the skin making white spots appear throughout the body. Although vitiligo is not medically threatening, people who are affected may still feel uncomfortable because they look different.
Norene L. Willis lives with this condition, but she has come to terms with vitiligo by realizing God’s plan for her. Norene recounts his experiences in her memoir, “Living Life in Vitiligo.”
The book inspires and educates. Norene reminds everyone that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made.”
