Children of military families face stress and adjustment difficulties at higher rates than do their civilian counterparts. This stress has been found to increase resilience in the lives of children as they approach adolescence and adulthood. What adds to the life of the military child is the rich growth he/she experiences as they enhance their world view through interaction with children of other cultures. Look through the eyes of children of various cultures as they share how they feel about their mothers leaving them to support a major facet of military life—deployment. Find enjoyment as these children share openness with their mothers of their lives as military children.

In Mommy, Why Are You Leaving Me Again? Adrian shines a light on the emotional strain children of military personnel feel whenever their mothers are deployed for duty and examines an aspect of military culture that demonstrates how children cope with deployment. Children from military homes may experience more stress and difficulty adjusting to the military lifestyle than their civilian counterparts. Resiliency increase in children as they enter puberty and adulthood partially due to this stress. The tremendous growth that military children enjoy as they broaden their perspective through interaction with children from diverse cultures enriches their lives. It shows how the sacrifices of mothers who are deployed to support the military may have a positive impact on their children’s lives. This wholesome book is written in simple prose and comes with colorful, fully-illustrated pages that help capture and retain the attention of children.

This book celebrates the sacrifices of the noblewomen who stand as defenders of freedom in the U.S. Military. It also provides a glimpse of the resilience of the children who are left behind—the children who are left to deal with separation anxieties so that their mothers can keep other children safe.
