KAREN ANDER FRANCIS is retired from non-profit leadership. In that role she designed and led both religious-themed and corporate development workshops and retreats for over 30 years. During that time Karen continued to write and publish in the fields of spirituality and cultural arts. She holds a master’s degree in in transpersonal psychology and post-graduate certification in spiritual development. Her original research, published in book form as The Soul Friend, maps a spiritual path through childhood sexual abuse. Karen has trained therapists and spiritual directors in the U.S. and Canada and continues to provide spiritual companionship in-person and on-line.

On the Edge of the Known World circumscribes and illuminates that wisdom is to be gleaned from life’s experiences as we move through them to the other side. More than the recovery from one person’s trauma, the author’s story describes what it means to stay awake, no matter how challenging the present circumstance may be, to engage the pain it brings, and finally to integrate its fruitful insights into an authentic way of being in the world.

It is the Christian journey, from the agony in the garden through suffering and death to new life that inspired the author through the many long months of recovery from a nearly fatal accident. On the Edge of the Known World shows how the story of Jesus became and remains a guiding Light in her mind and heart.
