Sonja is a native of Miller County, Georgia. She graduated as valedictorian from Bethel School of Colquitt, Georgia. Sonja earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors from Albany State University in Albany, Georgia. Later, after attending the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, she received her teaching certificate from the State of Florida. Additionally, Sonja completed graduate studies at the University of West Florida in Pensacola and at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. As an educator, she taught English in the Continuing Education Program for Norfolk Public Schools in Norfolk, Virginia. After returning to Florida, Sonja taught Business English at CareerCom School of Business in Jacksonville.

Sonja is a multitalented writer whose literary works have intrigued audiences for the past several years. She writes plays, songs, essays, speeches, short stories, and poetry. Her poems entitled “Foolish, Bold Prejudice” and “Operator, Get Me Jesus” have been published in anthologies. For two consecutive years, 1994 and 1995, Sonja received the Editor’s Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry, which was presented by the National Library of Poetry. Her poem, “The Church in the ’Hood,” is a favorite among family and friends. She has often been applauded for her inspirational speaking and her gospel plays, which include “Nobody, but Jesus.” Santa Spent the Night with Me! was Sonja’s first book. She later wrote another children’s book entitled When Santa Goes to Church.  In addition to writing, Sonja’s hobby is traveling with her family.  She has traveled extensively throughout the United States and to Canada, Mexico, Israel, and Europe.

What would you give to spend a night with one of the most iconic heroes you have ever believed in growing up? More so, if that night is spent with Santa Claus, what would have been your wish? There would have been too many to mention or you might have not been able to think of anything at all. We only hear about Santa Claus in Christmas songs like “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus”, “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer”, “Jingle Bells”, and many more. Truly, he is one iconic Christmas character, and even thinking about a night with him would both bring nostalgia and a fuzzy feeling.

In her book, “Santa Spent the Night with Me!” Sonja Grimsley Fambro tells a fantastical story of a boy who had dreamt of spending a night with Santa. He told the story of how he spent it with him and the things they did that night. Written creatively in rhyme scheme, the book promises a fun read for everyone and especially for kids. The colorful illustrations will also bring out the story even more and will grab a child’s attention. Even so, this is not just intended for little children. The story is so relatable that the story will awaken the imagination of the child in every grown-up. This is definitely a book that can be great as a gift.
