One story per contestant
All authors can submit one story. Duplicate entries will be removed. Authors entering multiple stories into the contest will be considered disqualified.
Deadline to submit a story
The contest started on 10th November 2021, and the deadline for all submissions will be 25th November at 11:59 pm EST.
When is the winner announced?
The winner of the contest will be announced 10 days after the closing date.
Contest entry approval criteria
Stories are reviewed and approved after submission. So if you submit a story, it will go through initial screening to qualify for relevancy and content appropriation. You will be notified via email whether your story will not be published, approved/disapproved after 2 days of submission.
Eligibility criteria
The contest is open internationally to all writers over the age of 18 years. (Keep in mind, you will need a PayPal account to receive the $1000 prize). Submitted stories must be written in English and must be previously unpublished.
Entry fee
Being an Introductory contest, there is No entry fee.
Prize money
$1000 (to be paid via PayPal) for the top winner. A PayPal account is a must for the participants and needs to be provided if the contestant wins the contest.
Winners Shortlisting criteria
All entries undergo an initial round of review by our panel of judges. Our judges shortlist the top 3 stories and declare the winners accordingly.
Word count limits for stories
The story must be between 1,000 – 1500 words.
Restrictions about the type of story
Stories submitted should be in context to the given theme. However, stories can be of any genre. Stories containing large amounts of graphic or explicit or lewd language will not be considered.
Withdrawal or Editing of the story after submission
You can request to delete your story at any time before the closing date. Stories can’t be edited after submission. Once your withdrawal request is accepted, you can resubmit the story only once until the contest closing date.
Contest Rights
YOP holds the right to withdraw the contest if not enough eligible and relevant entries are available for the contest. YOP reserves the right to judgment of the contest; we will not be accepting any reconsideration requests; henceforth the announcement of the winners, the decision taken by the YOP panel will be final.
