Ida Mae Kempel was born and raised in Langdon, North Dakota. At the age of eighteen, she moved to California with her family. Her stories and articles have been published nationally and internationally. One story, What Was in Jeremy’s Egg, has become a classic.

Ida Mae still lives in California, where she spends her time praising God, writing, traveling and visiting family and friends.

“Our daughter, Mary Jo, disappeared on October 18, 1972. This is the story of her death and my resurrection. Mary Jo went immediately to be with the Lord. I went to hell first. How I was taken out of that hell and set in a new place is written here so that others can find hope when they are tempted to despair.”

With these words, in My Search For God, Ida Mae Kempel tells her story of a lifelong quest for peace and serenity. There were other challenges along the way, yet her daughter’s murder was the pivotal event which caused her to change direction and to ultimately discover the mystery and beauty and extent of God’s love.
