Norma Vaugn Danzey writes both historical and contemporary Christian fiction. A retired teacher and church organist, she holds a Master’s Degree from The University of South Alabama.  Norma resides on the Alabama Gulf Coast and enjoys reading, writing, music and working in her church’s library.

While searching in her mother’s old trunk, she came across her own diary that she kept when she was a teen. Glancing through the book, she came upon an entry that made her stop and pay attention. Discovering that she had planned to write and publish a book very early in her life was the deciding factor that brought about her second career as an author. This scripture was given to her shortly thereafter: “Now go, write it before them in a tablet and note it in a book that it may be for the time to come forever and forever”. (Isaiah 30:8)

Joanna Young discovers treasures from the past in the attic of her Victorian home. Among them she finds an old diary and becomes mesmerized with life in a simpler time, and the family who once lived, laughed and loved in this old Victorian house. A story of family, love, secrets, and betrayal, Unclouded Day takes place on a farm in Franklin, Tennessee during the roaring twenties. Polly Brennen, an outdoor girl who loves riding horses, reading, writing and debating, draws the attention of everyone with her fiery red hair and green eyes. Is this the reason her sister hates her? Can Polly hold on to her faith when she is tormented by events beyond her control? Will Polly be drawn into the wonderful nonsense of new music, jazz, talking movies and the Charleston, or will she find the peace she is seeking on the farm in the hills of Tennessee? Is Polly destined to repeat the mistakes of a past generation, or will she be the one to break the chain?

“A Story of Love, Family, Loss, and Betrayal Will Take Us Back to the Roaring Twenties

Preceding the greatest economic crisis the world had ever experienced, the 1920s was dubbed as The Roaring Twenties. It was a historic milestone with the United States economy doubling its wealth. It also propelled mass consumerism and a cultural evolution such as the rise of Jazz.

A one-of-a-kind novel takes place within this era. Norma Vaughn Danzey, presents her book, “Unclouded Day: A Roaring Twenties Novel.” The story started when Joanna Young chanced upon a bundle of letters and a diary that centers around the life of Polly Brennen. She was a free-spirited young lady who would rather ride her horse and find her inner peace than to enjoy sweet nonsense. It is a unique blend of love, faith, loss, and betrayal.

Vaughn-Danzey will carry us into a series of plot twists of romance, and reality. In this novel, she gives a firm identity for her main heroine. Things happened in her life. Loss and betrayal caused her to doubt God’s goodness. She struggles with bitterness, unforgiveness, and a brittle faith, making her very relatable. The author also did a great job with the character development. She spared no effort providing a vivid mental picture of the scenes, making it more enjoyable and compelling. You can also tell that she knows her history. The historical reference were accurate, making it entertaining and educational at the same time.

What had led Polly Brennen into this dark moment in her life? Will she be able to get through all the pain, struggles, suffering, and loss? Can she make it through and find her inner peace? More so, who betrayed her?
