Marjorie L. Coppock holds a BA degree in Psychology from Bridgewater College, an MS degree in Organizational Behavior from Cornell University, and a Ph.D., in Sociology from Texas A&M University. She has taught sociology within the Texas A&M and University of Texas Systems.

Marjorie L. Coppock has actively participated in church activities throughout her life. Through the years she, her husband and three children attended various denominations, including Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Episcopalian and Church of the Brethren. She also taught a few years in a Catholic school and university. The author documents the sexual revolution as it confronts the church both as an involved sociologist and with personal awareness and understanding.

The Sexual Revolution in the United States was responsible for profound changes in sexual and family behaviors.

How did the social and moral values and public legislation change so quickly from support for stable family relationships to sexual license and family dissolution?

What influences encouraged or resisted these changes?

What were the consequences for individuals and for society?

How did these changes affect traditional religious values and practices?

At the end of the millennium, religious groups encountered political struggles internally within their own organizations and within the larger society. “Wrestling With Angels” documents the challenges to traditional religious sexual and family behaviors and describes responses to changes within Judeo/Christian communities.

Marjorie L. Coppock challenges universities and religious organizations to engage in serious discussion and consideration in regard to changing sexual behavior and family patterns and the consequences of the directions in which we are moving.
